From Static to Strategic: A Web Redesign That Takes Flight

The Story

Led the site redesign from start to finish, working between design and dev teams. I caught blockers early and made sure handoffs didn't create confusion or delays.

When the PM left mid-project, I took over—used Asana to track what was due, when, and what was blocking who. Kept the front-end work moving and hitting the original spec.

The Issue

The previous site was needed an updated design. Key issues included:

  • Cluttered layout:on the home page cramping Important content was buried, making navigation confusing.
  • Limited functionality: Interactive elements didn’t work properly, and some pages were difficult to access.
  • Inconsistent styling: Fonts, colors, and spacing were all over the place, which hurt readability.

What I Did

Frontend Development
  • Built responsive layouts and interactive elements based on design specs
  • Ensured consistency across all pages using established style guides site a polished, professional look.
  • Fixed functionality issues and tested across browsers and devices

UX Refinement
  • Identified usability problems in the design phase and advocated for improvements
  • Simplified navigation and content hierarchy for better user flow
  • Tested implementations and iterated based on feedback

Project Coordination
  • Stepped in to manage PM duties when the original PM departed
  • Organized deliverables in Asana, tracked timelines, and communicated blockers
  • Maintained clarity across backend, frontend, UX, and design teams
  • Documented handoff requirements so transitions were seamless

Impact

The site transformed from cluttered and confusing into a clean, polished platform. The redesign showcased Drone Forward's educational mission while maintaining project momentum despite leadership changes.
